What ISP are you using Jappy?

How about you then Red? What ISP are you using. I'm on the verge of blowing out Virgin for mucking me about.

Yawn!

Have I won tonight then? Oh crap. That means I'm talking to myself. Well they always said it would happen so I shouldn't be surprised - At least I can hold a conversation with myself and understand about half of what's being said!

I don't really have to. It looks like you have spotted the big flaw in parenthood all for yourself. I'd sing you both a lullaby but I don't want to be seen to be traumatising small children.

I'm on Virgin Media and have no issues, just like when it was NTL!

I win.

I've been on the old Nynex optical loop since Cable and Wireless were here. I reported my current (intermittent) problem before Christmas when it was still ntl! It seems that there are problems with the merging of ntl & Telewest and now that it's all gone Branson there are further glitches to be enjoyed. I still wouldn't subscribe to a Murdoch owned network though, unless I was conned into doing so

I've been stood up on two appointments for engineer's visits within a week. If they don't show again this morning between 8 and 1PM, I shall take it as a personal insult since I have had promises from reps who are in this country.

You might not know, but all Broadband calls are now 25ppm after the 10p connection AND you get to talk to nice young things in India. Don't ever say that their customer services don't try to keep you entertained while they muck you about. It's got so bad that I can't stop laughing at them.

This is their third and last chance to sort out the problem here on-site, not counting numerous calls (in ntlhell's endless automated sound loop) I guess I'd better get another provider to reserve my land line number first... then cut loose.

You win? Cuh! I was staying up nights before your Dad even started to think Bill Oddie looked cool matey! What chance do you think you have?

I can hear something. It's coming from slightly East of here... maybe on the Notts/Derby border or Derby/Notts border as we East Midlands Airport supporters like to call it.

If I turn my PC sound up a bit you all might just hear it. There it is again - listen... Zzzzzzzzzzz

virgin media are alright, been with them since they were diamond cable, then NTL then NTLDigital, NTLTelewest then virgin

Cleethorpes might be slightly better on delivery purely because it has a better standard of optical cabling in the town. I believe Manchester and Derby were the first installations of the optical fibre networks that we all take for granted. Our cabling is widely regarded as below the common standard because cable specifications were upgraded after the early trials.

That's only the hardware though, Gaz. I take issue with the new practice (for me anyway) of routing broadband fault reports via Indian call centres, or anywhere outside of the UK, if it comes down to it. The system failed me twice in a week with a loss of ten hours of my life waiting for appointments that were either not showing up on the techies' job list or cancelled for an (as yet) unknown reason without telling me.

I feel I should play the same game and send in a bill for my waiting time.

Anyway... today brings better news in that I've just got replacement hardware that is now working but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the next problem that occurs does not take ten months to fix like this one did. In fairness to ntl (not Virgin) I had relatively trouble-free service before Telewest & ntl merged. Adding yet another change of employer, ie Virgin, so soon after the last major internal shake up seems to have given the employees of Branson's newest acquisition real headaches. They can't even communicate effectively with each other, let alone with the customers.

I'm sorry Mr Branson, if you are reading this, but it has to be said that a communications company like Virgin or Sky (sssssss!) or even dear old BT is falling down at the first hurdle if internal communications are as poor as they appear to be at the moment.
