Hi

I have a new Avensis 07 and they have them. Also had them on my K reg Carina E and on my Passat Estate. Don't know what they are for though! Suspect that they are some form of protection.

The guys on the general board thought the same, so that will do me.

Hi There

According to Mr T several years ago, they are to protct the paintwork from feet etc going in and out.

Look like they would also help with flying stones.

As everyone has them, and they offer more protection it may be worth leaving them on

Cheers

Buzby

These strip i beleve are to stop stones, etc hitting the paint work and causing damage, which could lead to rusting. For example, The ford ka year has always had problem with the 1/4 pannel rusting on the door shut. Ford fit these strips there and it stoped them from rusting.

It COULD also be aerodynamics. I think Mercs did/do it with rear lights - they have a small pimple on the plastic that disturbs the air thus preventing too much mucky rainwater sticking to the rear lights (we all know how mucky the rear of a car can get in damp conditions!).

Maybe Mr Toyota has found a way to keep the rear alloys cleaner for longer ;-)

Hi

My 2003 Avensis T4 has these on it and I was told they are clear protective strips they put on the cars to protect the paint work as stated in the previous posts. I had a Toyota pack left in the car when I bought it. So nothing to worry about.
