well I got 80% of the sound system in, but after having surgery last week and not beying able to left anything heavery than a kettle for 3 months, its gone on hold!!

the question i have now is a strange one. 1 year from now (when im 25) im planning on getting a Mr2 turbo. I love the Mr2 i have at the moment, the body work on it and running gear is in great condition.

I have 2 options, 1 cheeper than the other,

1 i can go out and spend 4k on a good mr2 turbo

2 I can find a replacment turbo lump and get it fitted to mine? now can any one advice me a little on this or weather its even a good idea? i like the idea of being able referb the engen before i fit it and uprate bits and bobs. Im just unsure about cost benifit and insurance issues though?

Dude on IMOC does the conversion for £1500 with an exhaust.

Its the only option for me as I have spent so much on my n/a!

I would not take on the project as you have to change the whole rear subframe with shafts and suspension, engine, loom to the dash, gearbox and ecu. Not sure if its an easy job!

£1500  dang thats cheap, although i would guess thats for a rev 2 lump?

personaly id go for a rev 3, more power and reliability

well if im going to do it im going to do it properly as it will be a lot of money to invest in the car that i simply will not get back. I have a year to save and source the parts.

i would probably look at a rev 3 simply as the engen is newer and likely less miles.

What kind of bhp are we talking about on a recon rev 3 turbo lump with a custom exast and induction kit and chip, i take it it would be worth upping the boost as well?

Thanks

Sam

Fully decat and induction along with a mappable ECU will see you 300bhp on a rev3. Rev 1 or 2 will see you with 280bhp.

Without the mappable ECU you'll see about 20bhp or so less.

(obviously with both of the above, the boost will be increased)

My dad says that if you remove your numberplate off your Mini you will get another 1mph out of it.

cant see why a GT4 would be that much different to a 2 but on a four all thats needed to see 300+ is replacement panel filter, decat and zaust and an electronic boost controller set to 1.1bar

well i think that i could live with 300bhp! its just going to be a case of finding a insurance company that will touch it after its been modified

I work for skyinsurance, we specialise in Japanese and modified vehicles. I thought that the ;) would say it all really!

Mods/admin - apologies for the cheeky post this afternoon, would it be possible to speak to someone re advertsing / club discounted insurance?

lol yeah forgot that the 2 had less power than the four   . although the ST-205 CC system isnt to hard to retro onto a 2 and seems a popular mod on some of the higher power 2's ive seen.

ChargeCooler will support upto 400bhp BTW
