Problems With A Connects2 Ipod Adapter Help!

Hi,

this is my first post since fitting a Connects2 box to my '51 reg T Sport Head Unit. Like other members, I found that the system worked brilliantly for about 25 minutes and then the volume on the iPod, Radio and CD gradually reduced and then failed completely.

Could you more mechanically/electrically minded members please tell me what I should do???

Many Thanks,

Neil

Stick to cd's, if you have a cd player!

I know thats not the right thing to say, but let others complain to the connects people until they sort out their software problems.

Incidentally, does anyone know if other Toyota models, or even other manufacturers vehicles have this problem?

It may well null any warranty issue on the vehicles' sound system if you add a non approved part and foul up the standard system in doing so!

This is the sort of solution Which magazine offer, don't buy 'til they are fully sorted!

There will always be others out there to do it for you! :(

I have hunted around the forums and I can't see any solutions to this problem. I'm having exactly the same experience. I've even ended up having my T-Spirit Head Unit switched out by Toyota but again, after a few minutes the volume on everything gradually fades to zero.

The audio comes back after I've switched off the engine for a little while and then try again - but then after a few minutes the problems repeat.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm guessing it could be something to do with mismatched ground levels... but I'm not really sure what I'm talking about or how to fix it :)

Failing that, if anyone has any ideas how to get customer service from Connects2, that would be a great help too!

How long have you had it and where did you get it?

If it was from eBay you're probably stuffed, but if it's recent and from a proper company, just demand your money back.

If it doesn't work, it's not fit for purpose and that alone means the law is on your side there.

It's from a proper company, but unfortunately I'm out of warranty - over 12 months. I have procrastinated too long.

I actually don't care too much about getting the money back or not - I just want an aux input that works!!!!

Anyone got any success stories with an 06 Verso?

I'm using an XCarLink at the moment; Works pretty well although it has no AGC so I've had to use a lot of normalizing and channel compression on my MP3's to listen to them, and if I plug my iRiver into the AUX/Line-in socket I have to turn the volume up quite a lot (And remember to turn off the TA, otherwise the traffic news guy scares the bejeezus out of me when it switches over!!)

Not had any issues with it, other than the card slot not supporting SDHC cards (But they have an upgraded unit now )

TBH it's a bit expensive if you only want it for the AUX (Primarily it is for iPod or USB/SD card playback; The AUX is actually an optional extra!), but I've noticed a few people on there with one and the consensus seems to be similar; It can be a bit of a sod to get working*, but onceset up properly, it's pretty bullet proof :)

*If you do get one, double-check what connector your headunit uses before you order it, and check whether you have a free CD-changer port, or need a Y-split cable!
