Engine Oil For The Yaris Diesel

For got to add, Ford uses a mineral based 5w-30 grade for most zetec onward models (FORD WSS-M2C-913A/B) wich is designed to shear down and thin within a short period of time, compromising the protection of the oil, but gives better mpg wich is what the modern consumer looks for. Dont think the manufacturer is your friend.

Cheers

Guy.

Yes I am, a semi synthetic should be changed by 5,000 miles in reality and say a 10w-40 semi works out at around £17 for 5ltr.

Take a good quality synthetic 5w-40 that works out at around £27 for 5ltr and can be changed ever 10-12,000 miles.

And they do a better job while they are there.

Guy.

Ps Ok, so maybe not cheaper by miles, but cheaper if not the same cost none the less.

To add to all that, labour costs involved in changing the oil will be halved. Substantial savings to be made here.

Manufacturer specified oil change interval is 10,000 mile for our 03-04 Corolla 2.0 D-4D [116ps]

If I use synthetic oil, can I double the interval to 20,000 miles?

Combustion bi-products and other impurities accumulate with mileage anyway; so will I still need to change the oil filter at 10,000 miles?

Or are there any special oil filters that I can buy with additional capacity to function for 20,000 miles?
