Beam Deflectors

Hi,

I have an Avensis Tourer arriving in the next few days, and will be shortly thereafter taking it abroad on holiday.

I have bought some Halfords beam deflectors but the lens on the front on the Avensis looks nothing like the options on the packet. How do I know where to stick these please?

Tips appreciated.

Cheers,

Lee.

Lee, the principle is to block the beam which blinds oncoming cars. That means looking from the front you need to block the beam above and to the right looking from the front. That is the beam that will hit an oncoming driver's eyes on the continent.

Now since that beam bounces off a reflector you have to block the opposite part of the headlamp lens.

So, find the centre of the lens opposite the bulb and stick the beam blocker to block the beam that comes from the six o' clock position to the 9 o'clock position. That is, imagine four squares placed over the headlight each one having a corner at the centre. You want to place the blocker at the bottom left.

I use a bit of black plastic about 2 inches by one with the long edge on top and the top right hand corner at the centre of the headlamp. I then use the headlamp adjuster inside the car to lower the beam (highest number). Let's face it, the police want to see something on your headlamps - they aren't going to do a scientific check!

Do Toyota do plastic clip-overs with the deflectors on similar to the ones I had for my old Volvo S60?

That's really helpful but I worry about cocking it up.

Cheers,

Lee.

I don't think they sell clip on ones but I believe they sell stick on ones.
