Toyota Recall

Recieived a letter last week from Toyota UK head office saying my Avensis was subject to a safety recall. Aparantly there was a chance of the fuel line breaking away from the fuel pump. Anyone else had this recall? Had it inspected today at the dealer, and it is fine.

Also had the MOT done at the same time and it flew through with flying colours. (Phew!) Emissions were perfect even though I have the engine management light on. (Fault code points to the lambda sensor) Seems that it's only the heater part of the plug that has failed rather than the actual sensor. I'll get a new one some day! Don't know why but I'm always really paranoid when my cars go for the MOT, even though they are looked after and serviced regularly. Only time I've ever failed an MOT was a hole in the exhaust of my Corsa years ago.

I had a similar recall a couple of years ago. It is to do with fuel pipe chafing I think. There has to be a clearance between the two fuel pipes on LH side engine compartment. Maybe it is the same recall as I had. The dealer told me they had not found any wrong at that time.

I had problems last year with my 2001 avensis.Basically my fuel pump went gaga and I had to take the car to Mr T.They replaced my fuel pump and at the same time did the recall work on it.For some reason they failed to recall my car.The recall work was on the fuel lines and there was also other bits they worked on that were part of the recall to do with the fuel system.Mr T gave me half a tank of fuel and a bottle of champagne by way of an apology for the fact they hadn't recalled my car but I do wonder if the reason the fuel pump failed in the first place was because of the recall work not having been done.
