New Shape Rav 4 Query

Hi all

Anyone out there got 2 kids which need to use child seats? I just want to find out how you get on with boot space and if you might be able to actually get 3 childseats in the back if needed...

Currently Ive got a t4 avensis and space is tight, and there is no way I can fit 3 child seats in the back if I would need to, also the boot space is to small to fit all luggage and a twin buggy (mamas and papas aria) so was thinking of a rav 4....

any advise...and no I dont want a previa type vehicle..

Hi Nightstalker

I would say you'll only get 2 child seats into the back of a Rav, as the middle seats have an 'interesting' double buckle design for the belt

I'd contact Octagon and get the 24 hour Rav they have, so you can see how much you can get in the boot :D

Agree with duncs. The middle seat is next to useless. You'd struggle to get a person in between 2 child seats, let alone a 3rd child seat, as we've found out :(

TBH, I don't think the RAV is as family firendly as it could be. The boot is not deep enough to take a pram or buggy lengthways (with the buggy wheels parallel to the RAV wheels). And if you put it across the boot it takes up too much room. That's not to say there isn't room in the boot. There's plenty of vertical space.

Two child seats no problem, three maybe but doubt it? Depends on the child seat type. Think a 24 hour test drive is a cracking idea for you.

Found no problem having a buggy across the boot because the boot is more than big enough to take family holiday luggage as well as the buggy. Certainly better than my last 4x4 that had to have the buggy corner to corner in the boot.

How it would cope with a double buggy, again a long test drive should answer that question for you.
