had my gt4 a week now and everything is standard 100%

cant read owners manual as its in jap , is there an online one????

got dump valve on order next will be bosst gauges then up the boost some, is a manual boost valve gunna be ok to do this??

is there any point in upping fuel pressure????

and once ive upped my turbo's pressure whats good to keep it drivsable without going bang????and whilst im upping my boost am i best off doing the thing i read about wiring sometihnig up to change the way it gives the boost in gears ie standar it gives more boost in 3rd+. or was that pointless *****e???

its quick enough but mates getting a wrx impreza next week so need a boost haha

Basic rule of modding that nobody seems to get when they 1st buy a car - you get what you pay for. Don't expect to be able to spend a hundred quid & double the power of it, it doesn't work like that. If you want to do something do it properly, spend the cash that's required & get something worthwhile.

As far as I'm concerned the only time you should fit a dump valve is is you've done enough work to the car to make it need 1, just sticking a dump valve on a standard car screams "chav" to me I'm afraid, if your car needed 1 when it rolled out of the factory it would have been fitted by Toyota, if it didn't need 1 then it doesn't need 1 now.

If that sounds a bit blunt I apologise but there's no point in wasting money on something that's not going to make any difference, you might as well save the money & put it towards something worthwhile.

Welcome to the club anyway, it's your car so what you do to it is your decision so feel free to ignore all of the above if you want

With a 185 and raised boost you'll be needing a new metal headgasket in the near future unless it's already been done.

Manual boost controller is fine as long as you get a relief valve type one, don't use a bleed valve.

The wiring thing is the TVSV, look at the turbo actuator and you'll see 2 pipes coming off it. One goes under the engine the other goes directly to the compressor housing port. Cut the pipe going towards the engine and block off both ends, this disables the engines control of the boost level via the TVSV. Then put you boost controller between the actuator and the compressor housing port and adjust for desired level.

Personally I'd say get the breathing sorted first with a sports pannel filter eg TRD, blitz, Apexi etc. Don't go for an induction kit unless it's one of the sealed type ones or your just sucking in hot engine bay air.

Then get a decat pipe and exhaust, keep it to about 2.5" with stock turbo to avoid boost creap.

Once that's done then you can look into rasing the boost.

i will bare that all in mind then under bonnet looks tight for ind kit so will just replace panel with better one

what boost will be ok with just the standard head gasket?i wont go and raise boost until ive done the things you mentioned willl have a look at that TVSV thingy later but wont do it until ive got other things to go with it

Umm from memory on the St185 it generally recommend to stay below 12psi I think...

Don't forget once you disable the TVSV you'll be in perminate low boost about 4-5psi, you'll then need a boost controller to get it back up to normal.

As for boost gauge tee off one of the vaccum pipe on the manifold. On the ST205 there's a blanked port on the rear of the intake manifold you can use, but not sure if it's there on the 185.

i think some one has messed with mine and they havent really understood what there doing. I have a electronic boost controller on order. Sketchy, were did you get yours fitted, did you do it your self? I could do with some one taking a look at my setiuo to make sure that what ever has been done has been done correctly....

Yea always try to do everthing myself lets you get to know the car better, what makes you think it's done wrong?

Get some picks up and I'll have a look for you or let me know if you down south ever and we'll meet up and have a look in the flesh.
