AHH 1000km is up and i have entered lift zone. (dealer told me not to use lift and wear in the engine). Took me a while to land lift from 1 - 2 but i found the key. Keep ur clutch in for a split second more... apply a lil gas, crank it into second and dump the clutch. It lands at 61-200 and the wheels screech and ur off again. Landing it from 2-3 and 3-4 is ***** easy. :D :D :D :D

On an old forum post there was someone saying he could beat a wrx whilst rolling at 80kph. I believe that is true now. My mate has a worked evo gsr and we were cruisin at 80 and gave each other the nod. We took off i threw it into second and hit lift and it was neck and neck. it was reaching ridiculous speeds where i pulled back (lets just say above 150) and he was about half a car length ahead of me. This is a worked 14 pound turbo.

Good effort ROLLA. Now to work on standing starts. I think the key is somewhere between 4-5k rev standstill for take off.

now just get the TTE lowering springs, good tyres, strutbrace, and supercharger... then u'll be laughing

hehehe well i got Eibach springs on order waiting for some to come into aus. the stock Bridgestone tyres are quite good. i will run these down and get wider ones. as to a super charger... i think ill kill myself hehe.

supercharger would be sweet, but it's one hell of an expensive upgrade, $10K i think

so remap the ecu and get a decent exhaust! there's an extra 20+ bhp for you minimum

Posted

consider it done. :P btw, how and where do you get the ecu remap done?

Posted

specialist chip tuners in your area should be able to sort you out...

i'm not sure if they'll be able to remap the lift to come in any earlier because I think that's a mechanical issue.... not sure on this one.

they should be able to increase the air/fuel flow in your engine with a remap. You'll lose MPG but gain performance, a remap is only as good as the guy who does it for you.. so shop around!

A nice exhaust would be a great addition, squeeze a few more bhp out of that and it'll sound better.

Airflow is a bit of a no go area, there was a load of argument about how the stock air filter is more efficient than an induction kit/panel filter replacement...

Welcome to "lift zone" :D , How awesome is it in 3rd, it pulls like a mother F :censor: . I launched it from 5k's and it catapulted, didnt drop the clutch just released it slowly, got no wheelspin, just a perfect launch, cant get lift in second, i fall about 500 rpm short, im gona have to do it by sound instead of looking at the tacho, people dont know these cars they are just soo fun

Thanks for that advice AzZaMaTaZ, since i got the car i haven't landed in lift 1th and 2nd, now iam going to practice it on the way home from work tonite and hopefully land in lift, 2nd and 3rd is easy.

cheers

There is always debate on what you should do when running in a car. Some say run the car through its full rev range, but no full throttle and try not to keep on the same speed in one gear for too long. Others say drive it like grandma.

Besides, if you could see what they do in the factory to the engine before they put the engine in the car you wouldnt worry about the 'wear in' time!

I am still experimenting with the standstill takoff, any advice on best method?

well for real serious take offs this is what i do: handbrake on, clutch in, first gear, rev till 5000rpm and hold, release a bit of clutch till you can feel the car trying to 'pull away', release handbrake, control clutch and accelerator and try and minimise wheelspin, follow on etc...
