Haynes Manual

Haynes do a manual for the rav4...full strip and rebuild for cars from 1996-2002...the only problem is..that you have to order them in from France because they are not available in England and they are supplied in English...I have the address for the company and have just ordered one at a cost of £38.00 at todays exchange rates...if you are interested p.m. me and I will supply the address to you....alternativly I can supply them at £38.00 direct to you.

I hate to spoil the party, but a Haynes Rav4 Repair Manual (1996 - 2002) is available from Amazon for £12.53... Where is this £38.00 coming from? Am I missing something here?

Okay, I just read another post concerning this... is the French manual more informative than the American one that I have? I see that another manual called 'Chiltern' is also available for the Rav4... anyone have any details on that?

On the Haynes UK website it says manual being considered for UK spec vehicles but you can buy the American one for £18.99 from them! How much difference is there in the US spec vehicles as I'm tempted to get one off Amazon?

In my experience the US model will be quite radically different to the European. They usually have a bigger petrol engine and auto box and most of the electrical components will be different. You are likely to only find things like stripping doors or removing seats or other body related issues in common.

I already have the Chiltern version and find it lacking in detail and is frankly "crap"....the Haynes version covers a full stripdown and is very detailed...I lothe spending money with garages and prefer to do the job myself...I know with the Haynes manual I will be able to do more with my car than I can with the Chiltern version....If you can find the book on the net cheaper then great. If you do want the address then just ask.

The engines and running gear are identical to the English and European cars...the only differences are some electrical components and emmisions....but other than this they are identical.
