Can someone tell me if its possible to get a print out from Toyota of the service and repair work done by Toyota dealerships ?

The reason I ask is that when cleaning underneath my car the other day I noticed a distinct poor paint job around the front spots, the colour is fine, but to the touch its rough as hell and obviously not been finished properly.

IF it has been in an accident before I purchased it from a Toyota dealer, should he have informed me of this if he knew about it ?

I remember commenting on the finish of the front bumper when I was looking at it and the salesmen said something along the lines of 'thats ok', thats how they are !

To look at you cant really notice, but to the touch you can.

Disappointed ? a little

Task = loads of more hard polishing, cos I love it.

They won't necessarily have that information as it could well have been done in a third party workshop. They are not obliged to tell you about any work that has been done even if they know about it and the only record will be which services it had and any warranty work that has been done/outstanding. Perhaps Kingo can say if a dealer would share that info. Ex lease cars usually come with a fairly detailed print out if you can get your hands on it but I doubt yours was anyway.

The front bumper is very vulnerable and largely superficial so don't be too concerned if it has had a new one. It is more significant if the damage extends beyond the bumper (and even then if it has been done right it is not really detrimental). Look down the back of the grill or up between the under shields to see if there is evidence of new components to try and access the extent/how well it has been done. If you can't see anything obvious then forget it!

As for the finish around the spotlights, it is one area where it really is cosmetic rather than structural and if the plastic was prepared properly is unlikely to peel or degrade further.

In summary; Don't lose too much sleep over it mate.

Thanks for your reply, I wont be losing any sleep no worries there, in fact I smile in my sleep knowing I have my RAV sat outside waiting for my next thrill !

There is no internal damage beyond the bumper, I have already been on my back under the front of the car.

I love my RAV even more now, she just needs even more TLC from the polish and duster. I was cleaning her the other day and after 3 hrs the wife said will you be long ? and I replied I have the polish to put on yet and still the inside to do :D :D
