Air Mix For Corolla Carburetor

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a Toyota Corolla 1989.

I would like to set the air and petrol mixture on the carburettor as well as the idle-ing.

Does anybody have a simple way of doing that, for someone like me who would like to do it yourself.

Many thanks!

Without a CO monitor, its a bit of pot luck - you can check for extremes (too rich, too lean) by listening to the engine note and checking the exhaust, but this won't get it through an MOT for example. There were some thread-in replacements for a spark plugs, with clear (or not so clear) glass tops, called Colortune, made by Gunsons - not sure if they still do these and whether they'd even fit into a tight Ally head. This used the colour of the fuel burn (Orange=rich, Blue OK) to adjust the mixture.

Sorry not much joy.
