The answer might differ but im talking about while driving your CTS about and chilling out and if you see this certain car it gets your adrenaline up.

Mines has to be A BLACK TYPE R!

Any other colour i dont care! But the black one gets my adrenaline up and going and they ususuly have a go to try and out do me, we have a corner thats fast and tight, we call it the Bridgestone corner, but im not kididng! The Type R couldn't handle it and in went the CTS on a mission! Out cornered him and blew past him, my cousin said the Type R driver was not amused - Smoked and adrenaline rush acheived and satisfied!!!!!

LOL

Its weird cause I think many will agree with you on this, anything with a TypeR Badge or Heddlu (police) down the side lmao!!!

The other one is anything Diesel! Its sad I know! But have you tried keeping up with the Golf GT TDI! Bugger me they're quick! A girl I was seeing had one and no joke when the CTS hadn't warmed up (rev limit at 7k) She was steaming ahead! So much torque! I think i'm just having to admit that diesels are to good now days! The 320d will keep up with CTS and will tank on to a nice 150 and still return over 40 mpg! So i think i may have found my next car lol!

I agree the Black CTR is annoying especially as most up here are probably owned by ex-Saxo drivers!

I also dislike the Corsa boys here as they race owt they can with little chance of winning!

My mate has a Fabia VRS, tuned to 170hp for £300 and he's telling me it will do 0-60 in 6.9, 300lb of torque and he's still averaging 55mpg. I'm actually considering one of those or a GT TDI for my next car or too, only thing i'll never be able to like is the noise.

I'd say a Skyline R33 but i tried to race one and got destroyed lol, so i'll say a 200sx, raced this particular one twice, neither of us could pull away, looked like his was tuned though.

Only car in my area that'll drag is a Hyundai V6 Coupe... absolutely destroyed him in the dry...

Then exactly the same time, the following day in the damp he kicked my ***** as i did a rather eloquent wheelspin off the line, to wheelspin when i hit lift, and wheelspin when i changed to second...

To be fair, it was wet and i've never done that kind of start before in those conditions. Also got nicer tyres now :D

Was it the 140PS or 170PS TDI your x-girlfriend had?

The T180 is similar to the 170ps.... t180 is 180ps and 400nm of torque; as u say does surprise a lot of people

It's already a street racing thread; if that doesn't bother you then why does a bit of "Mine is better than yours"?

GT TDi 130! so it would be the 140 ps! On the old shape before the one out now! 03 plate! I enjoyed driving it, problem was she had her kids in the car so I couldn't give it what for, plus we were in a built up area! But for low end pull it was nuts! Got a Skoda Octavia Estate in work the 115 version and that goes like stink only 5 speed box tho!

Reminds me of a discussion between my friends, one with a CTS the other with a 106 GTI.

"mine's faster than this, its it has more torquey" - 106 friend getting a lift in the TS.

106 following the CTS down the motorway, he was getting a bit annoyed at being tailgated, so planted it.

And that was the end of that discussion.

THey do go like stink i agree but problem is esp. on the lower HP versions they run out of steam once max torque is reached (you must agree?) - the usual downfall of a diesel. I like my T180 because this isn't quite applicable.

As soon as max torque is reached i'm already generating 155bhp @ 2.6krpm. Its a smooth power curve up to 180bhp @ 3.6krpm and your still generating 163bhp at 4.4krpm which aint bad at all.

That power generated after the torque band gives it some substantial continuation of acceleration which really sets it apart from the lower power diesels. I know my car is rather scary and the torque around town is really too much; i know you can re-map to output 205bhp - some up to 215bhp i hate to think what thats capable of.

/// Anyway back to the thread

My nemesis i would have to say is a bmw driver in a 330d guise - its a better / quicker diesel engine than mine. The 335d fills me with envy; twin turbo diesel.... :P

I gotta admit some.....no sorry all BMW drviers i have encountered perosnanly are arrogant aggressive drivers that think they own the road, and turn their nose up at anything else - was parked next to one at the lights a few days ago and i was like looking over and - mines is shinier than yours lol!

I quite like the Auris T180! I would buy one but at 20k its a bit steep for me! Plus if i'm honest I quite like the Seat Leon and Ibiza Cupra TDi! Again its a VW engine lol!

As for finding the VW Golfs max torque I never got much chance to fly around in it, so could not redline it to see where it lagged and where it kicked! All I know was just tinkering around it pulled well and made me think there was a lot under the bonnet! Its a close match to a CTS but its the opposite side of the spectrum as its all low engine grunt, where as you have to thrash the pants off the CTS to go like stink!

Diesel is the way to go I fear! lol
