Bike Rack For 2007 Rav4

I have a 2007 Rav4 XTR (the one without the spare wheel on the rear door) and I want to get a rack to take 4 bicycles. According to Toyota I can't have a towbar fitted which seems to mean I have no choice but to go for a roof-munted system. All help and advice gratefully received :D

The Witter website only goes as far as 2006 models, but I still find it hard to believe that a 4x4 cant have a tow bar fitted

WTF no tow bar fitted.... Next there tell you, that the spare wheel is only for show!!!!!!!

i have towbar on my 4.3 . just towed carravan to france + back , but i could do with bike rack. i have XT4 without

roof rails. but rear type no good with caravan.

Hmm, still cant get my head around the lack of tow bar for the 4.3. N Maria HAS fitted one to hers,

think its an XTR with the spare. At first I thought maybe the bumper on the ones without spare had

number plate down below, and that was the reason. But if the XTR is the same as T180 number plate

is on door ? Anchorman, one for you I think

According to page 12 in the accessories part of the Rav brochure, there are 3 tow bars available!

2 are available for the T180 (one is flanged the other is fixed) and 1 is available to all other models.

As the XTR has the same rear as the T180, I would've thought you'd have a choice of 2! :D

Of course there is a tow bar is available for your car, it's just very expensive. The Toyota Bar racks only carry two Bikes

I,ve got a Witter 'normal' tow bar fitted to mine. My XT4 has the wheel on the door. I just used my "old" bike rack which again is a witter for the last shape Rav. It fits perfectly. A plate clamps behind the ball, it has an angled tube which has a low rise (handy because as with the last rav the number plate is positioned in a ridiculous position, if you have a tow bar) the tube is kinked to go past the wheel and the bikes sit on the top support arms. I have a removable towbar fitted to my T180. It was done by indespension in Norwich and was just over 1/2 Toyota's price. I cannot remember what make it is but can find out if anyone wants to know. Once removed the swan neck assembly goes in its own bag and fits in the cavernous storage area under the boot floor.

sound the same as mine...I have re-fitted the tow bar as I was fed up of MR BMW/Vectra sales rep on the motorway inches from my spare tyre...now I gladly slow down not touching the brakes watching them think....S#*T TOW BAR......
