Head Lights On Rav4 3

Nightstalker

There seems to be a very slight resemblance to the Avensis headlights....

Does anyone know if the rav ones have the same issue the Avensis ones had with headlight units melting....

Also how easy is it to change the bulbs on the rav 4 3, on the avensis I had to take the car to MR T as I could not open the cover to the righthand side light....

Also does anyone know the bulb part numbers

regards

I understand that the headlight issue was exclusive to Avensis.

I will cover the changing of headlight bulbs as a "maintenance tip" but you will have to bear with me as I am very busy at the moment and then on hols for a week. It may be three weeks but I'm sure your bulbs will last that long

Kingo, Part No and price please??

Bulb part numbers are in the handbook. Tried to get a spare pair of dip and main bulbs from Halfords - they didn't have the right ones and tried to convince me I really needed the ones they had. Bought a pair from the dealer instead - not as cheap but they're the right ones.

Changing the headlamp bulbs is a squeeze - I have to roll my sleeves up and remove my watch; my hands and wrists aren't particularly large and I can just get the job done (did a trial in good light and the dry - on a back road at night in the wet is not a good time to figure out how to do this job).

  • 3 weeks later...

Has anyone else been to Halfords....

I bought a set of dipped beam bulbs (the brighter xenon ones as I'm pretty much as blind as a bat :batman: in the dark ) They were adament :g: that these are the right ones for me Rav, so when I signed the dotted line with MR T I asked if they could change the bulbs for me whilst preparing the vehicle for me...

A few days later MR Ts gofer informed me that the bulbs dont fit????

Took them back yesterday and told Halfords that they are the wrong ones :nono: and they advised that these are the ones to use according to their system... :jester:

Guess Im going to have to get some sort of sonar devise.....whats the part number for that Part King???

The standard lights on mine are very good. So much so that if I catch them in one of these modern reflective road signs it dazzles me!

I can't see much need to upgrade the bulbs.

Halfords! People could write a book on stuff they bought there that does come close to fitting their car!

HA HA HA reminds me of when I wanted a Battery for the RAV...thought I'd just pp into to Halfrauds   and see...the young lad tried to convince me that "this Battery will fit your RAV Diesel"    turns out it was a Fiesta Battery... I said that it would just give enough power to work the cigarette lighter let alone start my RAV....

I went somewhere else.......

Still good place to pick up all your car cleaning stuff.....
