Am I Really A Sad B#*tard?

Is it just me, or do you have "other halves" who think that sitting infront of a computer, tapping away, adding bits of (sometimes even) useful insight on this forum is (quote) "what sad B@stards do" (unquote).

I'm now reduced to having to have the bbc website up on a second window that is immediately enlarged (thus covering up my dirty little secret of spending time on here) upon hearing my wife's footsteps anywhere near the study door!! :o :eek::help: :help2:

Paul,

Could not possibly comment on wether you knew your father or not :lol::lol:

but as for being sad in your other halves eyes I should say not. Its usually a fight

between me an er to see who is getting on here. And let me tell you, some of the

websites mywife finds are mind boggling  Talk about trivia, anyway she thinks

this forum is A1, especially when I show her the bits like Fujisan's curtains for the

back of my Rav :lol::lol: thought it was hilarious. Maybe your wife does not

realise how good this forum is. Help, info, banter and good laughs, its all on here.

B*8llocks, she's wanting on again :lol::lol:

Dave.

Aye well, Ye need tae get yer priorities right. Loads of car posters around the house, a collection of well-beyond-help classic cars in the back garden, a variety of garage tools scattered around the house, garden and front porch, 3 toolboxes in the main hall and a host of unfinished projects throughout the house.

Then ye can say that yer researching the solution to all of the projects ye have ???? Any hassle and ye'll go ontae eBay tae buy some mair crap!

Course, ye could set up a wireless home network and have a variety of computers all switched on which are tuned into toc then play a game of musical chairs. I solved the problem by putting my main computer into a glorified cupboard with room only for 1. there's a couple of laptops elsewhere linked, and a Media center with all the TV stuff to provide sufficient distraction.

Ian,

You'd save a fortune by just giving her £20 and sending her and a friend to Angels.

I think she'd definately be happier if I was spending money on eBay, thats for sure!! :P

If only she knew all of the little tips I've found on here that make her car work even better (esp the bluetooth phone volume).

I think thats the problem - She just isn't bothered, as long as the thing starts, stops and gets her to where she needs to be without any problems, thats all she cares about.

Still doesn't make me feel any better when she comes in (whats wrong with having a study anyway??) and asks if I'm chatting to my little friends on-line!! Makes me feel like I've been captured surfing for !Removed! - whatever that is???

Try having 2 forums hidden under the BBC browser, one for the car and another for my bike !!

I thought there was an intermittent problem with my pc as every time the wife walks past I can hear a tutting sound !!

I've been out of the loop since Monday because I have had a nice new whizzy computer delivered but the modem wasn't compatible with Vista.

I have to say that I roared laughing at this post because it sums up the situation here to a tee!

I am in a little bedroom that I won when my oldest daughter flew the nest and my wife will quietly push the door open and stand there grinning at me peering into this damned addictive forum swapping trivia (and being tormented - boy racer red indeed).

It has obviously struck a nerve with all the replies in one day.

I suppose I have to concede. There's nothing else for it. OK OK I am a sad b**tard.

Is that the time?

Now on a more serious note, I have just subscribed to Tiscali 8Mb.

Have I messed up?

After a shocking service from Virgin Media. Telewest residential, I switched to telewest Commercial. Since then I get 10mb download consstently for £40 a month. I use internet big time for a charity - www.active4all.info to help a development of a disabled sports center for the UK.

£40 seems a bit steep for a frugal surfer. I am going to pay £20 for this 8Mb deal with unlimited access.

I cannot seem to access your link but if you send me the address for your charity I will send you the £5 donation I pledged to guessing the T180 eBay auction to within £500 and got it woefully wrong! I forgot to do something so this has reminded me - please pm the details so I will not forget again. However, I am on hols soon so you might not get it until I am around again but I promise to send it.

It is also why I am keeping my mouth shut on the eBay guessing game on the furom at the moment!!!

That T180 was worth more than that!!!

I love this time in the morning. The wife has gone to work, the little lad is asleep (again!?!) and I can have a good browse of all the latest news, comments and funnies from the TOC and the inter-web-thingy.

Anyone on Talk-Talk? A mate at work had to hold a top of the range mobile phone hostage in a local Carphone Warehouse store, before they would give him his PAC number or MAC number and he could finally be rid of them after 6 months of trying.

And believe me, he's a big strong lad, no teenage shop boy was going to try take that phone off him!:lol:

Now back to the "Word Association" thread!

Oh......word association......Dave, in Liverpool, Angels is a Lap Dancing Club......so I hear, wouldn't know myself, past life, err different person :blushing:

Hmmm I had them for a while but gave me nothing but grief and then took ages to get rid of them of my phone line.....had to get OffCom to apply some heavy persuasion to get off my phone line...

thanks. the domain is

http://www.active4all.info

" target="_blank">

http://www.active4all.info

if that works...

and Smiths is a restaurant, Dave, what was in Glasgow City but has moved to Uddingston.

As for sending money the charity Active4All is listed on

http://www.charitychoice.co.uk

" target="_blank">

http://www.charitychoice.co.uk

and search for Active4All. Otherwise we have " Freepost Active4All " where posted items get to us without a stamp or address.

I'm away to see if the rollcage has been fitted to the RAV - I know they were working on it.

On the broadband connection, I found that telewest residential share the line with up to 12 others so speeds can be well short. Upgrading to the business tariff keeps it at 10meg as the line isn't shared. And their call centre for faults is in Sheffield I think rather than some far away country, so the engineer has less miles to travel!!

Its lunchtime now here in Glasgow so I'm off for a pudding supper...
