:( Oh dear..........you could possibly find that you may face a charge of driving whilst uninsured as when the MOT is lapsed your insurance is classed as invalid for road use.

I suspect that you were pulled as a PNC check was carried out which showed your car as no MOT.

It is so easy to overlook MOT dates but unfotunately for you the law does not see it that way.

Not too sure but you might end up with a few points on your license as well as a fine :(

Don't think there is much you can do,

To be honest you are lucky not to get 3 points for having your fogs on, but I think it's usually 6 points for no MOT.

Just count yourself lucky you didn't find out it had run out when you had an accident - as that could be serious trouble

opps, from what i have been reading you will just get a slap on the wrists. but.. if they want to make a example of you

"driving without a valid MOT certificate carries a maximum fine of £1,000 and possible disqualification"

The Highway code makes no reference to any penalty points for no MOT, however the maximum fine is £1000, Personally I would have you car MOT'd ASAP, then if you go to court, you can plead that you forgot, had it MOT'd at the first opportunity and plead remorse for forgetting, you are more likely to get a much smaller fine.

I am reliably informed that no MOT is generally regarded as a minimal offence and treated with a fixed penalty of 30-60 pounds. It is VERY unlikely to go to court. Accept you fine like a man and try harder to remember to get an MOT next time, lol

That's the best plan, just be honest with them, let us know what the outcome is, I would be interested.

Cheers
