1993 Gli Corolla Speaker Upgrade

Hello I'm going to upgrade the Speakers in my 'rolla! (love that) and have already got a CD head-unit for it

how do I remove the speaker grilles in the front doors? Or should I remove the door cards and if so how? What size are the front/rear Speakers and what are the best for £100 (For all four)

I'm really impressed by the 1.3 16V Engine in the car, but the (5-speed) gearbox is a bit "short" for me (It sounds too revvy at 70MPh)

Is it possible to get a rev-counter for the car from a sports model? Or should I get one from a factors?

p.s what are the normal things that go wrong with the power/locking three doors work okay but the front passenger don't, I'll be taking the door cards off to see the size of the Speakers (if no-one knows) so will have a look but any clues appreciated

***Edit it's an XLI not GLI***

Is my car rare? appently the UK got S, CD, and CDX models but mine is a XLi!

Bump! Please help!

i have 2way blaupunkt 6" Speakers installed in my GLi (but i believe the interior is the same as the XLi).

You have to remove the door sidings (if you see 4 grayish or black circles on the sidings, remove them. They are just covers for the screws that you need to loosen so you can remove and install your Speakers.

By the way, the Blaupunkt speakers(TH series) already has tweeters to enhance the high frequency sound from your player. Just make sure that your CD unit can accomodate at least 50W per channel to enjoy the full potential of your Speakers.

Hope this helps...

Thanks babes! I'm going to go down Halfords today and try get some matching speakers (I managed to get the door card off in the end)

That's good news! Hope you get the sound quality you want... :) go for the 2 or 3 way Speakers which has more power..at least 800W output.
