Protection Pack

Dear Fellow Rav4 Enthusiasts,

I have decided to acquire a RAV4 XT-R and was looking for your precious advice in relation to the protection pack (Protection Pack: Rear parking sensors, rear bumper protection, unpainted bumper corner protectors & side mouldings).

I would just need the rear parking sensors, and worried that the rear bumper protection, unpainted bumper corner protectors & side mouldings may spoil the original design of the car.

Would you have any picture of any RAV4 with the side mouldings?

Any comment really appreciated.

Have a great weekend.

Tom.I bought a new XT-R in February with both protection and style packs fitted. The protection pack, for me, is a must. The rear sensors are brilliant. I have the Carbon Quartz  model and the unpainted protectors are just fine as they are.The same applies with a black model. If you have any other colour painting the protectors would be a matter of taste. With the dark models it is completely unnecessary. The rear bumper protector is just a plastic film on the bumper top and is hardly noticeable. If you feel comfortable leaving your pride and joy to the mercy of the Tesco car park grannys without some protection from their doors do without. From an appearance point of view,on a dark car the protectors have at worst a neutral effect on the car's overall style. The styly pack ,which includes side steps and front bumper bar is more a matter of taste than any practical value but gives the vehicle a more muscular look. Adding roof bars can also add to this more rugged look but it is a matter of taste once again. Summing up,in my opinion ,if you want the rear sensors you may as well have the rest of the kit because I think you may have cause to regret it later if you dont..

the might look ok on the black cars and the quarts but i have seen them on all colours and the do look out of place on the silver thats why i just got the style pack fitted.

at the end of the day its down to the individual and to what there taste is

Alfa,

Have a look at the RAV Photo's thread, there are a few pictures of 4.3's with and without the protection pack.

RAV photo's.

Personally, I have to agree with the others and think the protection strips look alright / unnoticable on dark colours but I think on a light colours they would need to be painted, for me anyway.

Hope this helps

Very nice Jim :thumbsup::toast:

What was up with the rear door? Nothing serious I hope.

Hi Fujisan,

Nothink wrong with rear door, took some photo for Fatskater to help him locate wiring for the rear view camera on his T180.

Cheers

I have the protection pack on my silver XTR I was worried at the time of ordering about them being black but reasoned I could always paint them after if I did not like them. They have grown on me, also as they are in a probable damage zone in my opinion unpainted may be better.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ;)

I have the same feeling about the front guard on my silver XT4, it has grown on me, more and more has time has past. Now I cannot image my car without it. And I am sure if I had bought my car and it had had the protection pack already fitted to it, they too would have grown on me now.

You are so right Terry, beauty is in the eye of beholder

Oh Alfa,

Whether you go for the side and corner protection or not, definately get the rear parking sensors, they're wonderful, especially on a big-ish car like the RAV.

Or buy the kit and do them yourself for £65, the 4.3 having a standard bumper makes it a lot easier than fitting

to a 4.2. But yes they are definitely worth every penny.

Cheers,

Dave ;)

Having read this thread and being the 2nd Vermillion Red Rav owner...well soon anyway... Mine is coming with the protection pack and its not painted...

At first I did have my doubts when I looked at pictures but when I test drove the Rav I loved it, as previously mentioned by others...these protection strips are placed in vunerouble areas and I'd rather have someone open their door  on the strip rather than the door itself...

However, with these low life missfits who are roaming around our neighbourhood spraying cars I might regret not asking MR T to get them sprayed up (apparently they need to remove the strips to paint them?) as if this/these lowlife pond scum come round and spray up my Rav I dont believe I would be able to scrub the paint off the protection strips and would get them removed...BUT as I am getting a viper 500xv alarm fitted which includes a perimiter sensor I am hoping that it will deterr the little sh :censor: :ffs: :2guns::death: .....

The rear sensors are okish...I find that the sound is not loud enough when reversing then again I dont know if you can adjust the volume for this....

Perhaps someone can clarify....

Either way....hope you get your RAV....

Rob
