hiya all thaught i would introduce myself, i was reading another t sport forum and came across someone questioning if his lift wasnt working due to his type of petrol.

I would like some comments on this as i will be a t sport owner in the very near future.

If this is the case i may be put off as i dont have a clue what petrol to look out for or how you recognise the grade etc.

Any help would be appreciated, thx daz.

I found that if you have been using V power for a long time and go back to unleaded- there is a DRAMATIC sluggishness to throttle response and the car feels slower - also depends on which gear your in - if he tried it in second and does get the kick then might be an idea to go see mrT

Standard T Sport can be run on Unleaded 95, Super Unleaded 97/99 Ron! Super is better as it improves throttle response.. well I believe anyway!

Compressor T Sport should only be run Super Unlead 97/99!

A quick note about the compressor if thats what you are looking to purchase! The lift isn't noticeable, it is present but the power is applied smoother than a Standard T Sport due to the Compressors supercharger!

My T-Sport runs fine on Unleaded 95!

I haven't noticed much difference in using BP Ultimate or Shell V-Power to be honest.

I've found the BP Ultimate to be rubbish. I used to use that all the time when not near a Shell garage, but the price of BP Ultimate is 106p a litre!. (i've wasted hundreds buying that stuff). I now live inbetween two Shell garages and always use vpower at 96p a litre which is higher grade I believe and the car feels very nippy, if thats the right word. The price is a bargain too!.

BP ultimate is 97ron, vpower is 98 ron.

Rolley: Compressors cant be run on anything lower than 98ron unless you want pinking and sluggishness. 97 ron is too low. Thats what i have understood from others anyway.

Remember that a lot of Tesco sell 99 ron :D although not all. I also found BP ultimate to be cr@p. Car was pinking it's head off, at the slightest bit of load, oh and remember the OLD ECU reset rick if you do end up with the wrong stuff!

Even if you don't own a compressor like me and just a t-sport ,i think v-power is still the best bet, although i'm going to try that tesco 99ron if my local filling station has it and see if i notice any difference.

I rememeber once i was in the middle of no-where and needed petrol, found a BP by luck, they didnt have any optimax which was strange, when i asked the guy at the counter he had no clue what i was on about. his word were, quote 'petrol is petrol'. Even explaining to him the different grades he still looked confused and thought i was pulling his leg.

About 6 years ago i had a peugeot 106 1.1ltre (60bhp i think, lol), i used to always use normal unleaded, till one day i didnt look at the pump and filled up with super unleaded. The car felt completely different, very smooth and seemed almost floating when pushed hard. So it goes to show that higher grade fuel is not only good for performance cars but lower spec cars too. Car doesn't have to have a turbo or injected for the fuel to make a difference. Something to bare in mind when next filling up regardless of car type.
