Hi all!!! am looking to buy my 1st Rav4 but cant descide between 2 ive seen for sale. heres the info

car 1 - Black Vx 2000 (new shape) £4500 but 118k on the clock, private sale, usual Vx spec

car 2 - Dark Blue Gx 2000 xreg so new shape, £4500, 82k miles, trade sale, usual spec but fully colour coded.

i prefer the colour black but not keen on leather interiors but dont know if getting prefered colour (cos i do like the blue as well) is worth 35k extra miles on clock.

what do you think???

Hi beth and welcome to the club. Bit of a tricky one that, just down to personal preferences.

And just to make you more confused If I were you and could not make up my mind I would

look at a few more. Have a look at the photos on here as well.

Cheers,

Dave ;)

Hi Beth,

Welcome to the TOC

I think with cars of that age and mileage, the paperwork is the important thing. If the car has a good service history (not necessarily Toyota service history) and a raft of MOT cert's, bills for tyres etc it shows that the car has been cared for by it's owners.

If they have had it maintened regularly then it's a good bet that they looked after the bodywork, and generally didn't abuse the car.

Have a good look at the wheels as well, if they have been ripped against curbs, it might point to an owner who wasn't that bothered about their car.

Good luck, hope it all goes well.

Just seen a post from a somebody selling a 98 5 door RAV for under £4k in Warrington and now the post has disappeared. I think it has been moved because it was verging on an advert.

Anyway, if that was you, you referred to Parkers guide to set your price. There was a little discussion on here the other week about p/ex prices and how Parkers and What Car etc show no relationship to the prices people were offered in p/ex.

If I were you I might have a look a flea-bay and see what people are prepared to pay for RAV's there and then set your price accordingly, it might give you a more accurate figure than Parkers which seems to be a bit optimistic.

Good luck

Beth,

I have just realised I was very rude posting the above reply on to your topic. I am very sorry, please accept my apology.

Your's was the most recent topic to come close to our mystery seller's call for help. Again I am sorry for using your topic to post a reply to that person.
