Buying A Celica

Hi, sorry i don't usually post here but i'm more biased towards the corolla section since that's what i own.

my friend is currently looking for a celica (last generation) and he's found a few which we are going to look at in the following week.

what should we look out for? are there any known problems with them? is there any year of production which should be avoided or was known to give more trouble?

hope you can answer my questions :)

thanks

Have a search - lots been posted before.

Early Gen 7's had a problem with the lift bolts on the 190 models, most have been fixed by now though.

alloys tend to corrode badly

If it's got a spoiler make sure the boot struts have got SP stamped on them otherwise they will be too weak and will fail.

Can't think of anything else

thanks for your reply mate.....

apparently now, he's set his heart on a white TRD Edition celica, so hopefully if he'll like it once we get to see it, he'll buy that one.

what should i know about this model and what are the must have features for it to be an original TRD not just a fake copy, advertised as and sold for TRD money. thanks
