Newbie Needs Advice On A Dodgy Corolla Door Speaker Please

New to the owners club (be gentle with me please) :)

I have a 2003 53reg Corolla 1.4 T2 5dr.

The speaker in the drivers door has stopped working.

I managed to take the door card off expecting to find a loose wire, but the connections seem fine.

Having never seen behind the head unit I wondered if there might be a loose connection there, or would that result in none of the Speakers working? Any advice on what to do next please?

If taking the head unit out would be the next step does anyone have any idiot-proof instructions please? I found a few photos on the forum but found them difficult to follow.

Thanks in advance.

not sure if the Speakers are rivited in or screwed in but what you could do is take the speaker from the other side.

That way you can work out whether its the speaker or wire thats gone

If the Speakers are rivited in borrow one from somebody or pop to Halfords and get some cheaps ones from the bargin basement (or take them back and get a refund ;) )

Also welcome to the club

Click on my signature link to show pics.

Being your car a T2 model, and the pics show my car a T-Spirit model, to remove the centre unit, pull out the middle knob to to reveal a screw, undo and carry on the removeal.

Hope that help, feel free to ask if not

Thanks for your responses chaps, I'll have another fiddle at the weekend.

man-bing, which middle knob are we talking about. Do you mean the fan speed switch? Does it just pull straight off?

From what i've been told, come off with a bit of a tug.

The rest should be about the same.
