Damaged My Rav Today

Pulling out of a parking spot at work and there was a railway sleeper buried end on as a post which I didn't pull past properly (too easy to get full lock on on the Rav :) )and its left a lovely mark on my passenger door, sill and rear wheel arch :crybaby:

See attached. The white is just paint. Put a claim in on the old insurance, I pay it so I want some use from it! Hopefully drop it off at the weekend, but strangly its Ringways who are doing it who are a Ford & Mazda dealer

My self anger is going now and being replaced with a feeling of stupidity  Not had a call yet from Ringways and More Than did say within 24 hours, if no one rings by lunchtime Friday I'll be chasing them as I was it done ASAP!

Thank you for not taking the pish :)

Never take the "pish" in a situation like this because it is all to easily done!

We all have close calls and many times I say to myself "there but for the grace of God"

Hope your RAV will be in fine form very soon.

I have a request if you don't mind. I guess like most people on here who fork large sums each year to insurance companies, I would be interested to hear how you rate More Than after all the dust has settled. Thank you.

Well my initial feeling about More Than is I hate overseas call centres!!!!

Talk about pulling teeth explaining things, and when I got to Ringways today they didn't understand what the damage was from the call description the guy had written. I'm thinking Direct Line with UK call centres come renewal.

Sorry to hear that about More Than and I hope the bodyshop now have a full understanding of your requirements.

When will banks and insurance companies (to name a few), learn that people do not like dealing with overseas call centres.

My wife was with Churchill and they handled her accident very poorly, even with UK call centres. I think Churchill and Direct Line are part of the same company owned by RBS.

Good luck with the repairs and please keep us updated. Thank you.

Hi guy's,

Re More Than, I had a rear end shunt back in april. I am insured with More Than, the time scale and repair were fine, no hassle. Getting my

excess back is a different kettle of fish. Every time I phone I get a young girl in an Indian call centre reading parrot fashion from a card

" I am sorry but the other party have not admitted liability so it has been handed to a specialist team to pursue". This despite the other party

is also More Than, the other driver admitted liability at the time, and I have it all in writing from his end of the insurance company.

Me thinks it stinks of delay tacticts, and all insurance companies do the same.

Dave. ;)

All car insurance companies base there quotes on some risk and the hope, you as the driver will not crash or have any kind of bump ;) ;)

When the inevitable does happen they have to pay out....this is where the fun starts...

The time I did have to use my insurance company, it was an English call centre and they handled it well (I reversed into a low wall and cracked the rear bumper on my old Megane  ) this was Renault Insurance as well.

The wife is insured through More than and me as a named driver, but only for pleasure as they wont insure me to drive it to my place of work  because this may be anywhere...The nature of my job entails me working at client sites all over the country B) B)

This is exactly the problem my wife had / is having, trying to get her excess back form Churchill. Personally I've given hope that she will ever see that money again. The delays and excuses they come up with are scandelous.

As I have said to my wife "They are quick enough taking your money but....."

Had Ringways ring me with the price this morning and its £993  Obviously this will be a special quote with it going through the insurance which I'm certainly going to do. Part of that is £150 for the wheel arch extension which broke. Just got to wait for them to ring back to get it booked in now, what fun.

Sadly all insurance companies are going this way, Indian call centres are not easy to deal with. There are a few companies where you can still talk to somebody in the UK. I make no apologies for mentioning Toyota insurance, certainly not the cheapest, but excellent service when looking after you in the event of a claim. It is only when you have to make a claim that you will find out the shortcomings of your insurance provider, price at the end of the day, should not be your only consideration.

I hope all goes well with your claim

Kingo

Having read your comments on More Than, I have used them for some years now,no claims but a couple of problems especially when answered by call centre abroad. They made a mistake with direct debits and I received a call from Customer Service Centre in Birmingham

0800 389 3090 or 0800 064 1084 they may answer as Sun Alliance but will deal with your query without transferring you abroad.

Hope this might be of help.

Its taken me 6 weeks of trying, but I eventually got the number of the complaints dept. Called yesterday and guess

what, will have cheque in 10 days. Delay tactics ? You choose. ;)

Thanks.

Dave.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well at long last Ringways have the wheel arch in stock and I'll be dropping the car off this Saturday for them to sort it. Been almost refusing to view the passenger side of my car since it's mishap and I've not washed the car either. The only time I've seen that side has been to fill up :)

So fingers crossed a week on saturdau I'll get my little motor back all repaired and looking like new. Could be worth getting the side bars as seen on a black NRG recently on here, bet it would've protected my car!
