Very nice indeed!

My plate starts with GV aswell, does that mean our cars were first registered in the same area? As the first two intials symbolises the locations of first registrations?

Armz.

quite happy, that was covered in lots of white chips...fixed most of em, cleaned up nicely... even a darker shade or red now :)

Sometimes i wish i got red, my stone chips are getting pretty bad. What did you use on it?

Mine is a GV plate too.

You'll find lots of Toyotas with GV, GU, GY plates.

I think it's the area that the Toyota company cars get registered in. So most likely our cars will have been owned by Toyota employees for their first year.

You'll find a similar thing with YG, YH etc. plate BMWs and MINIs.

Your right Minimarc!

With a little work the Pre-facelift looks nice too!

I was gonna get a pre-facelift and use the extra cash to mod it a little but i knew i'd wish i bought the facelift if i did. I like the look of MiniMarc's

I preferred the facelift model too, but I wanted a 5 door version so ended up with a pre-facelift. My thoughts are now turning towards a facelift rear bumper as the back looks really bad on the pre-facelifts.

Do facelift parts fit on the pre-face lift?

obviously the front bumber does not...

what about other parts?

The front bumper will fit, but you would need facelift headlights and a few other bits and pieces aswell. The rear bumper will definitely fit (or so I have been assured) and I also believe people have fitted facelift side skirts to the pre-facelift models aswell :)

Well, i'd never cleaned up my car before so i spoke to a friend who always keeps his car mint... i did use a sponge, which i know technically i shouldn't but i don't have much choice. i don't have access to an exterior tap, so no fancy solutions for me :(

Anyway, cleaned up up with Turtlewax Wash and Wax, seems pretty good... gave it a nice shine. Then used some Autoglym paint restorer, the front bumper was a bit more faded and bit dull, that brought it out a treat... took me an age to get the excess brake dust flecks off.

I'd also been recommended Turtlewax coloured wax polishes. Most of those little white flecks went just with that... i had some other marks from previous owners about which were deeper, so i filled them with a chip stick. Got most off, they show now as darker red/light grey marks and are alot less noticeable.

Got a paint pot on order from Toyota... gonna clean out the ones i've chipped sticked and repaint em.

Took about 7 hours overall.... wash, through clean off everything, buff, autogylm, and about 3 coats of wax... but it came out lovely, still looks good after a week too, unlike my last clean. Gonna give it a wash and wax on sunday though, just to keep her in good nick, and maybe sort out those chip sticked bits...

I can't complain, 7 hours work was the difference in price between mine, and a Thunder Grey one on the forecourt. £2k difference in price, for same mileage and ages, just paint chips.

Think it worked out quite well :D

Plus, i managed to actually clean up the botch job the garage did with it before i bought it... why can't they wax properly!

Had it in the garage 2 days after that, under explicit orders not to touch the paintwork with any kind of cleaning equipment.

how do you post pics i was gonna put my car up but cant work out how to do it lol

ps mine is gv to hehe

You need to get the pictures up on the internet somewhere. There are plenty of picture upload sites out there like imageshack. Once you have done that, just put the url to the picture in the post like this (without any spaces) [img ]http://www.imageshack.us/blahblah/mypic.jpg[ /img]

I've never spent 7 hours on any car i've had. I've got most of the auto glym stuff, i need to what you did cause i can see the chips and things building.
