Updated Sat Nav Disc Needed For Tns 300

I want to update the sat nav disc in my avensis, it is a TNS 300 Europe (just worked out how to get the disc out of the box!) Without paying the exhorbitant dealer charge (don't know what it is but it's sure to be exhorbitant!) does anyone know how I can update it? and if so where from?

Also, I really dislike the keying in the road name rather than the postcode - it seems so old hat and its not very precise- are the newer ones any better?

Many thanks to any replies !! :D

Hi LouiseJN, I went through the same as you when I first bought my Avensis. Here's what I found....

The dealer priced the latest DVD update at £196. :o

This website http://www.toyota-mapupdates.eu/ currently wants about £110.

Bear in mind that by the time any mapping data is released for sale, it's got some errors in it due to our changing surroundings.

I've not seen anything that indicates you'll get a postcode entry method (although I could be wrong) from an updated TNS 300 disc.

I eventually bought a regular Satnav device because I am a sad gadget freak and I objected to paying so much for what was essentially an 'update' to something that Mr T had already been handsomely paid for.

You could always try e-Bay.

Good Luck.

Current price on toyota.co.uk for the 07 DVD for my TNS300 updated DVD is Euro160, about £106 right enough. That is ridiculous when you can buy a portable system with postcodes and colour interface for this kind of money!
