My MR2 has started to dull on the nose section.. I use Auto Glym Resin Polish but it doesnt seem to do the job, well it looks good at the time but doesnt keep a shine, especially on the flat part. What can I do?

I also use Auto Glym shampoo when I wash. The rest of the car looks ok tho.

Jappy,

I've tried a lot of different shampoos and found the best combination to keep a good shine (after you get it back)

is turtle wax shampoo/ wax combo, mixed in with a good few squirts of fairy liquid. Makes it shine every time :D

Note sure what make of paint it was that you got on your car Jappy, In my experience this happens with cheaper paints after a while, and you also got the plastic thing with the nose cone, some paint can look a shade out between metal and plastic. Dont know why and everyone says it should not happen, but it does, and it can get worse with age. There is also the constant barrage of rubbish that is hitting your nose cone first.

Anyway, I would give it a hand T-cut (original) and then keep the nose waxed, it will help retain the shine longer, once you cut it once regular waxing will keep it cleaner.

Use what you like but I use a simple wax that I buy for £30 per gallon. My brother uses auto glym and Meguires and when our cars are both cleaned you would not know the difference.

The nose and metal are an exact match.

The paint guy says certain colours (red, yellow) lose they shine eventually because they dont use lead in the paint anymore.

What wax do I need to use?
