I got to redesign the yard where i work to fit more in, we are looking to narrow the gangways so we can fit more racks in. Only prob is we would need a smaller fork lift to do this but without any lifting capacity lost. all the stuff to be stored is in euro pallets so i need to design it around that i guess, anyone have experience in this sort of thing on here?

I used to design racking (many years ago).

Bear in mind that you don't get owt for nowt. Even with a narrow aisle crane your gaps have to be slightly wider than the depth of a pallet, unless you're looking at small parts storage and archives which can use moveable racks.

Your best bet would be to speak to a few racking companies - Dexion is probably the best known, but there are many others. They all have engineers who can design the best layout for your requirements and budget. Getting the design right will save you money in the long term. You need to allow not just for how much storage space you want, but how long it will take you to put away and retrieve pallets. In a large warehouse the effiiency of picking can make a massive difference to the running costs.
