Lo all,

I got a GT4 inport ST205, and it seems when i start her up in the mornin, or after a night shift, that the engine management light (orange box style one) comes on, yet there is no difference in power etc, oddly enough, if i restart the engine, it goes off :S.

Maybe i shoudl let the car heat up even longer afer lettin it sit?

I really dont wanna have to Shell out 40 quid for a diagnostic hook-up if its not needed lol.

Any ideas?

Ta,

Gary

You don't need to Shell out anything to check the code. All you have to do is bridge two pins in the diagnostic connector then switch the ignition back on; the diagnostic light will flash a number of times to indicate the fault. You get a number of flashes with short gaps between them then a long gap and several more flashes to represent the two digit code - so five flashes, longer pause, three flashes is code 53.

I can't remember which pins you short though. I think you will find that if you search on here, and if not certainly a search on GT4OC.NET or will give you the info you need. You'll also find there a list of all the codes so that you can figure out what the numbers mean.

Good luck.

top up with toyotas red 4 life additive - not tap water. tap water spells death for engines.

te1 and e1 are the connections used for fault finding. .
