Prius Ipod Integration Kit

Just a word of warning to anyone out there thinking having this kit fitted to their car.

Despite the fact that my T Spirit has the upgraded JBL radio, and very obviously supports CD Text, this functionality does not work with Toyota's iPOD kit. If the ability to display playlist and track information from your iPOD is something that will influence your purchase, I strongly recommend you ask your dealer to check with Toyota whether your particular radio is compatible before you part with any money.

Just what Kit are you referring to as my dealer tell me toyota do NOT make an iPod integration Kit for the toyota its just that some dealers sell a 3rd party add on unit via the AUX input. and you would not expect much from these kits other than sound.

Strangley enough, I don't list an ipod kit for the T Spirit, but do list a kit for other model Prius, Hmmm, not sure why there is not one listed for the T Spirit, maybe thats why some functions don't work. The ipod kit for other Prius models is:

PZ473-00262-A0 iPod integration kit £143.57

Fitting Kits Required as below

PZ473-00210-06 wiring 4 multi accessory fit £37.56

Additional Parts Required

PZ420-00261-ME Owner's Manual £6.43

These parts are retail and can be discounted by joining the Lindop Toyota website

The following iPod generations are compatible with our kit: mini, nano (1st, 2nd and 3rd generation), classic, touch, with colour dispaly, with video and with click wheel. It is not compatible with shuffle

The kit fitted to my car is the one listed above under the 00262 part number. Not sure who its made by, but it is supplied as a Toyota branded part with a manual published by Toyota. I have had contact with Toyota GB Customer Services since my original post, and they have confirmed that this is the compatible part, but that the head unit on my JBL stereo is not compatible with the CD text function. They appear to be suggesting that it was the dealer's responsibility to advise me of this.

Unfortunately I didn't see this post before I bought the kit too (and I looked everywhere before I put my order in)... It was only today that I picked up my T-Spirit, and I have to say that this piece of kit is worse than useless.

In reply to the earlier post, this is actually advertised in the Prius brouchure at the back with the accessories) (with no mention that it isn't suitable for the T-Spirit)...

Apologies, but I am going to post my observations under a new topic, so as to highlight the subject again, in case anyone is still thining of putting it in the T-Spirit.
