Servicing Costs

My 2005 t-sport is due its 2nd service shortly, the 'full' service. I've phoned a couple of dealers and been quoted £175 and £197 inc VAT. Sounds a lot to me, but I'm used to paying Ford dealer prices, which are about half this for a major service.

I'll be sticking with Toyota until my warranty runs out (and maybe after) but just wonder if I'm being taken for a ride. I mean, I know most garages (not just dealerships) charge extortionate money for what often amounts to an oil change and a few checks but this seems a lot to me! Out of interest, is the price on the 1.0/1.3 much cheaper?

Hiya,

You may know this already but having the car serviced at another garage instead of Toyota doesn't affect the warranty, however if a problem arose as a result of wrong servicing then that particular thing wouldnt be covered. We have a local Toyota/Lexus specialist in the same town where the nearest dealer is and their prices were much cheaper than the dealer and they did a sterling job too. Our Yaris Blue has just had it's 30k service for which toyota wanted £134 and the specialist wanted £104! I know that isn't a huge difference, but it is enough for us.

I cant remember what the prices were for the 20k as it was done a while ago!
