Toyota Forlife - Can You Still Get It From Toyota Dealers?

Hi

I tried to get some Toyota Forlife from our local Toyota dealer and he sold me the Pre Mixed Pink Toyota Coolant. I have an Estima Import and its quite obvous its the rich red stuff. Had a chat with the dealer again and he said he wasn't aware of the Red Coolant.

I can take the pink stuff back if I can find out out about the availability of Forlife.

Can anyone help? Has anyone got a part number?

I'd rather stick with what's already in the system. Otherwise I'll have to do a very thorough flush and go over to the Pink Coolant.

Thanks.

Yes you can still buy it, altough it is now branded "Longlife"

08889-80002 Red colant 5ltr 17.94

08889-80020 Green coolant 5Ltr 17.94

Pink coolant is the extended life stuff, good for ??? 100K I think???

Does anyone ever buy coolant in bulk? I have 60Ltr barrells if anyone wants a deal. PM me for details

Kingo

Thanks for that.

Now that's got me confused :( because the coolant I have got is the one you mention - part number and everything.

I was under the impression that "Toyota Red" was richer in colour - like the coolant that's currently in the vehicle. Or is it simply a case of my coolant going darker with age?

Also, is it safe to not do a "major flush" before putting this in? I've heard some scare stories about folks putting incompatible coolant in and things going wrong, like "jellyfying " etc.

Is it safe to flush with normal water - I suspect that's a stupid question :D . Thanks for any advice.

Perfectly safe to flush out with water (But catch the stuff that comes out and recycle it) I don't think it should go down the drains! The coolant in the car goes a brown colour when it gets old, it should be a rich ruby red sort of colour.

Thanks for the advice - The coolant is currently a rich ruby red, but I don't know how long it's been in there (my Lucida is 1995 - 50k), so I want to change it to make sure all is OK.

Thanks again.
