Coolant Change - Green To Orange

Toyota 1.8vvti 01. I am planning to replace the coolant and noticed it is green, which i assume from other posts is a shorter life coolant.

I want to put in the long life coolant, which i understand is orange in colour, but wanted to know if i drain the rad and the block whether i can put the orange coolant in, or whether it will not mix properly with the residual amounts of green left.

I don't want to turn it into a major job, so just your views whether i can do this straight swap or just stick to the green coolant.

I noticed on my Toyota service history that it never seems to indicate when the coolant was done so have no idea if it was done 2 years ago or never ! I know they are supposed to tick the relevant box on the tick sheet, but it looks a bit hit and miss whether they bother.

The normal Green colant is long life. We don't use "Orange" long life coolant, do you mean the pink stuff? The green is more than suitable for your car, if you did put the pink coolant in, you would need to ensure that all the old green is flushed out, probably not a job you need to do, just replace the genuine green stuff

The residual amount left in after a radiator and block drain wouldn't cause any problems at all except maybe not being so quite so pretty a colour. The pink stuff does last longer but apart from that doesn't really give any other benefits.

Thanks for the replies. In that case i'll stick to the green stuff. Should i buy from Mr T, or would Halfords be as good ?

I must have been thinking of my wife's Focus regarding my comment about orange coolant.
