Squealing Noise

As all you regulars might know I've been having a squealing noise coming from the wheels when the car is driving slowly.

Took it to my local garage who diagnosed it to a seized offside rear brake caliper. The garage have carried out a rear brake service and said they had freed the seized brake caliper as it was binding onto the discs. As advised by the garage I also changed the rear brake pads and discs.

Having driven nearly 100 miles since the brake change I am still getting the squealing noise from the wheels. Could it be the caliper has seized again or is it that the pads are just bedding in.

Sometimes the noise doesn't come until the steering wheel has been turned slightly.

Any ideas to what is causing the squealing?

I've checked the backing plates to the brake discs and none of these are in contact with each other.

Did they/you put plenty of copper grease on the back of the pads when they were fitted?

Does it squeal all the time? Just when braking? Or does it stop when braking?

Cheers for the link. I have same problem on mine too. Seems to be a standard fault on all corolla's. Rob where abouts in Herts are you. Not seen another t-sport on the road in Herts yet.

It squeals when driving at speeds below 30mph. Its seems to go away when the brakes are applied or when the steering wheel is turned slightly to the left.

There is plenty of copper grease on the back of the pads.

Could it be the new pads bedding in? I've only done about 100 miles since I've had them fitted.

the only T Sport I have seen is on A406 North Circular near Ikea area and it was right behind me! It's good that the CTS is rare, not like the CTR and Mini Cooper S where they are everywhere.

from what your describing if you turn the steering and this affects the noise it sounds as thou it could be your fronts at fault when the noise occurrs try small movement of the steering to see if the noise goes if it does then it would be the front

The Squealing appears to have gone now so I'm putting it down to the bedding in of the new pads. I've got a trip up Scotland soon and will be piling on the miles so will see if it is better or worse afterwards but for now the squealing has gone :)

Cheers for all the replies
