Hi all,

A friend of mine has a yaris semi auto, it's basically a manual but with an automated clutch. Sometimes it makes a noise form the clutch actuator when the ignition is switched off and the key is removed. Recently the Battery has gone flat. The question is, is the Battery shagged or is the Battery being drained by the clutch actuator? the engine fault light is not comming on.....

Any Ideas????

I would suggest getting the Battery tested to see if it is sound. They are reconed to be good for about 2-3 years, although mine is fine at 5! It may depend on how much you draw from it etc. It is worth getting the alternator tested too.

After that, check all the leads, earth cables are tight, not just feel tight but spanner them. Many a fool has been fooled by a slightly loose Battery lead ( Ahem)!

After that, I recon it's back to the dealer for a diagnostic!

Coupeboy,

Do you mean the freetronic transmission? If so, the noise will be the pump pressurising the accumulator. Im pretty sure this noise is normal.

As gar suggested check the Battery, alternator, cables etc etc.

Remember the days are getting colder now so the Battery performance will suffer from this too.
