Hi

I think i got a problem on my 03 Corolla E12 T sport - with the rear window/windscreen de mister(or de icer/heater whatever you call them) does work but 2(or 3) of the lines doesnt seem to be doing anything so how do you change them ? since there printed on the windscreen? is it a job for the garage or more to point does the windscreen need changing?which i hope not !

I can live with it but i better change it since winter be coming up & dont really want rest of it to pack up!

Thanks

think its a new rear screen there mate. my 02 t spirit has the botom 2 lines on the rear screen not working, if you look close you'll see where the lines have been nicked or cut, you'd think in this day and age the fillament's would be inside the glass , not just stuck on it.

dont know if there's any sort of conductive paint or repair kit ?

You can get conductive paint at ...

...never tried it myself, but it should work OK.

Yes i notice 1 or 2 lines were slight off colour i think its where that car dealer sticker was stuck on when i removed it, the car dealer that stuck the sticker on!!! so u think i can get them to pay,lol

easy to sort out, as mentioned above get some conductive paint, mask up either side of the line so only the line is showing and paint up the break. sorted

I tired to get mine done on warranty 2-3 weeks after I brought the car but they said no as I could have done it - they then wanted around £300 for a new bit of glass.

They said that they could repair it but from the poor service I got I never went to them again.

I too have brought the paint but never got around to painting it but I know you can also buy stickers to put over the lines (this is what Toyota would have done)

Also to stop this stuff from happening again i'm thinking of getting the back window tinted so that the plastic film will stop it from getting scratched again.

You could also claim on your insurance - you normally only have to pay £50 and it doesn't effect your no claims

But youll have to check that one first

I used some silver conductive paint years ago on a Fiat 126 that I owned.

I got it from RS Components (Radio Spares). It worked well and replaced two elements of the heated rear window that got damaged.
