Avensis Vermont Vvti...is It A Chain Or Belt ?

Hi

Some confusion regarding my newly purchased Avensis vermont 1.8 VVTi, someone has told me it has a timing chain and not a belt, others have said it is definately a belt . Can someone please tell me for sure. Also the horse power, what is it on this model. Parkers Guide states 2 different bhp 106 and 124. Which is correct.

Pre August 2000 are belt, post August 2000 are chain.

all Avensis VVTI engines are all chain driven.

Thats what it says in Haynes!
