Hi

I have just purchased a new 2007 Avensis with "Automatic Sound leveliser" (ASL).

The manual is very vague on the subject . It just tells you the options Hi, Med ,Lo.

Does anybody know how to actually set this facility.

It also has the OFF setting. Simply, the higher setting, the more sound at higher speed.

Try this:

1) Set audio to level eg. 15.

2) Drive at 60Mph

3) Switch ASL from OFF/LO to HI, and notice the increase in sound.

If driving normally, the audio will automatically adapt in level as speed changes. If set too high, the ASL may actually make the audio too loud when increasing speed.. therefor, MED or even LO is best.
