Thank You Guys From New Member

Hello everyone

I'm Sarah and i am the proud owner of a 2006 MR2 in silver with less than 4.000 miles. I bought it last week from the Toyota dealer (surprisingly getting a better deal than i expected).

I'd just like to say a big thank you for the advice on the 'drain holes' as Toyota were no use at all. I found a water leak underneath the air intake vent, which was running off the body near to the jack point. When i asked Toyota about it, they said that it was normal and was condensation from the exhaust when it was cooling down. That didn't sound right so I had a look on this site and found the 'drain holes' topic, i had a look and there it was, a pool of water over the drain when i looked down between the body and the hood. You guys obviously know more about it than the guys at the dealership where i bought the car.

I haven't taken the air vent off yet but i have soaked up all of the water with a sponge so at least it's drying out now.

I had an mx5 2003 from new but i never really liked it. It looked boring and was boring (never had trouble with water though).

I haven't stopped smiling since i got the MR2. I love it!!!!

Glad to be of help SarahAnn

Don't leave it too long to clear the drain holes though because it doesn't take much rain to make them overflow again ;)

Welcome to the club

Thanks for the warm welcome.

A silly question but i bet you've had worse. How do i flush the drain through to get the leaves or whatever is in there out once i have taken the air vent off like in the pics? Told you it was a daft question.

Thanks

Sarah

For the big stuff that won't wash down with a hose (as in the picture) you should be able to reach in the gap and take them out.

Other handy tips are HERE if you haven't seen them already

Hee hee. I lived on my own until i got married last year and got sick and tired of getting ripped off for car repairs and house repairs etc so if I think I can do it without messing up, I'll have a go.

I once replaced a full interior in my first car (a metro) arrrrrggghhhhhhhhhh but that was about 18 years ago :baby:
