My dad is thinking of putting some 17" wheels on his t sport. We tried one off my car on the weekend on the rear and it looks so much better..question is will a 17" wheel with 205/40/17 be ok to fit without any issues ? if not what size are you people running. :D

Cheers

Andrew

it will be fine on it's own providing it has an offset of about 42.

if he plans on lowering it he may have a few problems with rubbing.

If it's not lowered it it will look odd as the wheels make it look high.

for 15's & 16's your better with a offset of 38-42

Actual offset that will fit the yaris is 35-45.

But when you fit 17's because they are wider than the 16's you need a higher offset, especially when lowering.

Unless you get wider 16's then it's the same as the 17's.

I'd go for 15" or 16" wheels and tyres no wider than 195! B)

You heard of problems with bigger wheels then ? :D

Can't see how it will sit higher tbh

It'll look ridiculous if you get 17" wheels and don't lower it. My old 1 litre looked daft when I fitted 15" wheels without lowering it first.

Most people have problems with 17" wheels, I'd avoid them to be honest! :)

How will it look daft without lowering ? what probs have people had ?

It'll sit like a monster truck mate, take my word for it! People have had problems with the arches but if you get the right offset you might be lucky and have no problems at all!

i have got 16inch alloys, 195/45, i have lowered it on Eibach springs and it does tend to rub whe i have 4 people in the car, i suppose this is an excuse to not ferry people about though.

Yeah; if you get low profile tyres, they are barely any bigger than 15's. But you may be able to find some pics of unlowered 17's on here if you search/ask.

16's with a decent drop looks the best....in my eyes.

17s stay away esp if you aint lowering it

Why what difference will lowering make ?

Well the yaris sits high as standard and if 17s are added it just looks like its on stilts even more! Yes the height inc the 15inch alloy and tyre may be roughly the same as a 17 with a tyre but the extra alloy seems to make it look wack without a decent drop.

Heres mine before and after having mine lowered:

Hiya people (im new to this forum),

Since we're on this subject..I was interested in power coating the std set (as tuned up t-sport was saying) and put some 185-195's low profiles on them or just a set of 'wide' lightweight 15's. Im wondering whats the "recommended" width of a 15 (alloy or tyres) before it starts rubbing?

Thanks for the help.

-John (new owner of a t-sport btw! :))
