Exhaust Systems?

Just booked my compressor in for a better exhaust(looks uneven with only 1 back box).

The nice man said he could make a de-cat system that would enable me to put the cats (there r 2 of them) back in when it comes to m.o.t. time.

I was wondering if anyone has had this done before???

Any idea what sort of power gain I'll see??

Do u think i'll need to tweak the ecu to cope with the improved airflow or will resetting the ecu help??

No point asking the guy at the exhaust place coz he'll just tell me what I want to hear.

We do this on American cars but you can get an engine check light to illuminate.

The oxygen sensors (lambdas) will see that the cat is not working (missing) and could put the car in safe mode.

There are things called MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) Eliminators available to fool the computer into thinking the sensors are ok and some ECU tuning can achieve the same result.

Google 'MIL Eliminators' and you will see what I mean.

There are some great high flow competition cats on the market now so that is the way I will be going when I do mine.

Yeah, c what u mean. looks like more trouble than its worth.

will speak to the chap about a sports cat, will probably be a lot more expensive though.

Anyone seen those kits what (allegedly) fool the car into thinking the air its getting is cooler than it is so it adds more fuel?

do they actually work?
