Leccy Windows And Locks

hi ..ive just bought my 2nd yaris a t2 ....and was wondering if i could change over my old door interior.so i could have electric windows and locks.....how easy would this be ? ...also could i get a dash with a passenger airbag from a breakers and fit it ....again how easy or impossible would this be......was mr toyota nice enough to use the same loom and are the plugs in there......thanks in advance any help would be appreciated

Sounds strange this but is your new Yaris a french or Japan made one. There is usually a sticker on the windscreen that states this. The Japanese built ones usally have the plugs already there. But even if it is Japanese it`s still not that easy. The doors may not have the correct looms in. So you would probably have to remove the door looms from you old car too. These plug in behined the footwell kick panels. As well as the window winder motors/mec`s, you would also have to change the door cards and switch control packs too. Oh and theres also a relay to add to the fuse box too. I have actuly done this conversion on my Yaris.

As for the central locking(which I have not done to mine). you`d have to change the door lock motors over and there`s a relay under the dash top. If you wanted Toyota remote locking too theres a central door locking ECU under the dash top to swap too. Then it would all require codeing and keys re cutting......is it really worth it <lol>

Another way to do remote central door locking is to work it from an aftermarket alarm. This is much easier than the Toyota way!! Good luck!!

Oh, and as for the airbag on the passenger side, I would not advise anyone who has not had the appropriate training or right equipment to mess with the airbags. It`s soooo easy to set them all off if you don`t know what you are doing with the wiring. AIR BAGS CONTAIN EXPLOSIVES! They can actuly kill if the person hapens to be in the wrong place in the car when they deploy. And the airbags are mega expencive to replace!!

Big money and bigger hassle.

“But it once buy it right” if you wanted the extras then maybe you should have considered a higher Yaris model. The T2 is the entry level so has minimal equipment which we all now take for granted.

ok .....how about changing doors with a scrap car.....are the looms and plugs in the kick panel .........im not desperate just playing with ideas

If you really want electric windows and second hand door parts then fill ya boots. How old is your car? If its fairly new I wouldn’t really want some old smashed up second hand parts on my motor.

What about just upgrading your car to a T3 or T Spirit?
