Windscreen Chip/crack

I've just off the phone to Autoglass for my CTS. Hopefully it will just be a repair job and im paying £62.50 for it.

But apparently RRP on full replacement is £450!!! WHoooaoaaaaaa!!!

And if you're wondering I am with Tesco Value comprensive which funnily enough does not cover windscreens.

However they Autoglass quoted me £250 for replacement. Which isnt tooo bad I guess because I probably would pay £350 for excess on a comprensive policy.

Originally the plan was wait till next year May and renew my insurance and get full cover but this morning with the frost it looks like the cracks are getting longer:S

So.....Any comments? Hehe

Could you not call up Tesco and see if they allow you to increase your premium to cover windscreen repairs? It would definitely be worth it as all you pay for new glass under your policy should be between £50 and £70 (I had to pay £60 to get a new windscreen on my CTS in the summer). You wouldn't be charged the £350 excess as it is not a "proper" claim.

Well if you phone Tesco on Saturday and they have the option to add windscreen cover then just ask them to have an effective date of Saturday, then call them on Monday and claim lol :D

Grr bad news. You cant add it unfortunately. Just gave em a quick ring...

I hope I can just get it repaired becos spending £250 on a windscreen.....I could of bought a nice grille like MiniMarc! hehe

Ahh well, I shouldnt of been so cheap in the first place, but to be honest its not something that happens alot, ive had 3 cars and ive never needed it.

I wonder why not?

Maybe they think people will not bother to take out the cover, then after they have some damage to their windscreen, they'll just ring up and add it? ;)
