Spare Wheel Cover Clips

Hi All

One of the catches on my Rav 4.2 spare wheel cover has broken off, it’s the one at about 3 o’clock. This makes the cover rattle especially when shutting the back door.

Can the clip be replaced? It appears to be part of the moulding though!

My Ravs less than 2 years old could this be a warranty especially as the spare has never been fitted?

Any ideas.

Hi Sarge (cops ? army ? ) and welcome to TOC.

This happened on my last spare wheel cover (got a new one after getting rear ended) I was going to repair

it by using one of those speed clips inside and screwing a self tapper with cover to outside. means you have to

take screw out when you take cover off but how often do you do that ? I could not think of any other repair

method, other than a new cover but being painted it will cost a few bob. Hope this helps.

Dave. ;)

Hi Dave and thanks for the welcome.

I'm not conected with the services at all The sarge was a nickname my mate gave to my old GS750 Suzuki motorbike I bought form his mate (during a drunken conversation) but still havent got around to restoring yet.

Thanks for the tip I could do what you said and paint the screw head black to match the colour, though I still might try the warranty route at my next service you never know!

I have a 2011 RAV  IV and one of the clips on my spare tire hard cover has broken off. I really don't want to buy a brand new cover. Does anyone have any ideas for repair?
