Buzzing Dash Board

Hi all, just recently I have noticed (mostly at motorway speed) that I am getting an intermittent

buzzing from the dash area. By accident, while it was buzzing I hit my knee off the gearstick

and the buzzing stopped. So I have discovered that when it is happening, if I apply just a little bit of

side pressure to the gearstick it goes away. Any ideas ? Thought maybe something needing tightened

or adjusted in the gear linkage causing vibration. Might get Mr T to have a look at next service.

Dave. ;)

Dave

Put your thumb on the insert on the top of the gear knob and see if that stops it. They sometimes come loose and vibrate. If it is that you can usually pop them out and put some blutac under.

I will look at my mates 4.2 later and see how his is fixed.

Cheers

Sorry to hear about the buzzing, hope it is cured soon.

If I could offer a word of caution until it is fixed, even though it's annoying, I've avoid appling constant pressure to the gearstick. My mate had a bad habit of resting his hand on the gearstick while driving and ended up with a steep bill when something (a bearing if I remember right) wore out because of his lazyness. Needless to say it quickly cured him of that particular habit
