hi there

any conclusions re oil consumption reasons after 91k ??

i presume the problem is with both intake and exhaust valves stems seal cups due to rubber worn down.

any other opinion?

cheers/igor

The problem is the oil control rings on the pistons becoming clogged up and not sealing properly. This is why the whole short motor is replaced when under warranty.

I 'think' the warranty may have been changed to 100,000 miles for this problem.

hi -- are you really work for Toyota in Derbyshire?

Please guide me more with my problem with oil consumption. I do not believe (!)that TOYOTA could assemble such class car with this piston rings problem.

I am sea-going engineer and know engines well as both diesel and petrol. WHat do you think with valves stems seal cups?? (they are 16 pcs installed) Whether they can run after 91k well? I can not imagine. Look -- my engine has been tested at Toyota's dealer and found very good as good as new without gases penetrating into the crankcase and it was confirmed once ventilation hose was pull out from cyl cover -- it means all 4 piston /rings gaps are in limits. Once 4 spark plugs were screwed out they have been found having minor traces of oil burnt and Toyota's engineers told me that the like problem is with the above cups. My problem is that i have purchased Avensis as 3 yeas used one and it is under no warranty due to sold at other dealer than official. But i service this car using Toyota' s dealer/ I do not know what to do. Whether Toyota can cover this under warranty stated by you? Please come back/CHeers/Igor
