Lowering Springs/backbox

Hi All,

Had TTE lowering springs fitted yesterday on my preface lift T-sport, what a difference it rolls a lot less and the ride quality seems much better :) .

If you haven't had it done get it done it totally changes the car. If you have already had it done you know what i mean.

I have been looking at the TTE back box and the Remus one, are they the same? Does anyone have a Remus fitted if so what is the noise like and the quality of the product is it an easy fit?

How far is it lowered ? i had Eibach on my 2003 Mazda 323F lowered 30mm, TTE is rebadge Eibachs, TTE exhaust is rebadged Remus so yea the same.....

I have the same, fitted a few weeks back, really does make a huge difference.

The TTE's i believe are 35mm drop on both front and rear. Although i have heard some mention 30mm front and rear, but i am pretty sure its 35, but i never measured mine when i got them. TTE kit.

A few people have said the Remus exhaust gets rather boomy at 70-80, any speed above or below is ok and bareable. The remus adds a more throasty rasp, the standard exhaust on the t-sport sounds more whiney compared to the upgrade one. I haven't changed mine though, maybe in a few months.

UKDM323 is correct about the exhaust. The Remus and the TTE ones are identical and an easy job to fit as long as you can jack up the rear high enough to slide under it. Fitting mine actually took about 2 hours but that was because the 2 bolts were rusted over and seized up, so it took me a lot of hard effort to undo them. All things being equal though I wouldn't imagine it to take more than maybe 30minutes to replace.

As for the noise, it is fantastic. I haven't noticed the booming noise that Armz mentions (apart from the one generated by the engine in the middle of the rev range). I actually don't find the remus any louder as such than the OE exhaust but it is much deeper and throatier. I hated the OE one because it was too high pitched, and the Remus fixed that very nicely indeed.

Toyota certainly won't sell them. You will have to find them from an Exhaust specialist or search on eBay and include a search of Europe as I think there are a lot in Germany on eBay for sale.

I was incredibly lucky to find a buy-it-now auction when I was late night surfing at 1am, and bought it there and then for well under half the retail cost :D

how much are the springs to buy? and from where?

around 125 pounds + vat direct order from Mr.T

Armz.

Hmmm! That's cheaper than Eibach!

I thought TTE springs=Eibach

Just checked my invoice to make sure, and yep, dated 30/08/07 125.82 + vat for the TTE springs from the toyota dealer. Infact if you want them any cheaper, send Parts-King a message on the boards and see what he can do. Part number is TPZ439-E0720-00 as on the invoice.

I don't have figures, but it lowers it alot at the front, seems more than the rear to me anyway. 30-35mm Some say 30 some say 35. I will try and get a picture of my standard rimms on the TTE springs so you can see for yourself.

I think a few others may have posted up pics of before and after on standard rimms, maybe search the forums? Or i will post later tonight.

The TTE Twin exhaust backbox is normally 261.44 inc vat, i've found some on another forum TSowners discounted at 250 inc vat and delivery. I think he's a member of this forum too. Id: Chris.

I've been meaning to email him about getting the exhaust aswell as the tte grill and some other parts but haven't had the time recently.

Thanks Armz for your reply,

It will be nice if someone from this forum can post some photo with standard rim. :help:

Cause my workplace is full of speedbump, :ffs: don't want to drop to low.

I might be force to get the bilstein coilover cause it only lowers the car by 25mm!

Ahh if it's speed bumps your worried about, then i'm in the same position as you, where i live there are literally hundreds of speed bumps, some are vicious, some are very subtle. I haven't scraped or bottomed out on any of them, but i don't take them very fast. Although i do make brisk progress. The faster you go the more chance you will bottom out. If you have the front TTE splitter then i would imagine under 5mph would be the only way to tackle those bumps without damaging anything. But i will take some pics later for you, front and back.

Just so you know, the Eibach springs cost £146 inc VAT which is pretty much identical to the price that Armz paid. The Eibachs also lower the pre facelift model by 30mm. I have these fitted as well as the TTE front spoiler and don't have any issues with speed bumps, although my drive can be a bit hair raising when reversing out, and the fjord at the bottom of a steep hill where my girlfriend lives keeps me paying attention aswell. :D

Been to TTE website this weekend, they also do a suspension kit other than springs. Went on Silverstoneperformance.co.uk, they charge less than £800 inc fitting which sounds reasonable---anyone had them fitted on the Rolla!

Hello mate, sorry about delay getting the pics. I fitted my cusco brace today and took a quick few shots on my mobile before it got dark. I don't have time to setup an imageshack account (never done before), so if you want the pics PM me with an email address i will email you them. So you can post them up on the board if you wish.
