My Rav Is Now Fixed!

Helloooo,

Well a few weeks ago I had a little mishap where I caught the side of my rav on a post in the ground causing damage to the door, sill and back wheel arch although only small areas on each. Well I picked her up last night and Ringways did a good job on the damage and its all back to normal now but I though I'd share my experience.

More Than :- Fairly straight forward logging the call and didn't have any more contact with them after that. Only issue was trying to explain the damage/details to a foreigner was like pulling teeth.

Ringways (Doncaster) :- Poor communication from them, had to ring them chasing the progress all the time even though they said they'd ring me. They only ever rang me back after I had spoken to them and they were busy but they did call back within 30mins.

Took longer than quoted to get the car back. Dropped it off one saturday morning and expected it back a week later but it failed a quality inspection (delay tactic?) and didn't get it back until the wednesday afternoon.

No complaints with the job done although I've resisted looking it over with a fine tooth comb as I think expecting it to be like it was might be overkill considering the nature of the damage. It wasn't a simple panel replacement but knocking out dents.

Moral of it all is don't be careless driving your car ;)

Only one issue remains and thats the 2 clear plastic stickers on the bottom corner of the door and the wheel arch are not present. Is this something I can order from Toyota? Should I expect Ringways to have completed the repair with these as well?

Jase,

thats good news, your Rav should be as it was pre accident. So if there is protective film missing, the

repairer should replace it.

Good luck.

Dave.

That spot is prone to stone chips being spat from the front wheels...sod's law you will get a ding there....Mud flaps stop some of them but if it was there then they should replace like for like....

I would second what others have said. The NRG went in for some repairs a while ago and when we got it back they had replaced the protective guard. They are fitted as standard to all Rav's, so dont let them tell you that it's an aftermarket item!! Saying that I think they do have to be purchased from Toyota though - it's the only place they are available from.

HTH!

Jase ma man,

Weel a've learnt sumpthin else... Ringways are into dentistry or is it you who's a dentist??

When looking the car over, use spectacles as the fine tooth comb up here is classed as a dangerous weapon.

I'd sue the owner of the post. Planting posts without adequate planning permission is illegal.

On the repair, hand a letter to the repair shop manager outlining your misgivings about the shoddy workmanship and copy it to More Than. I'd email it to them as the post to India is taking 8 months just now.

And lastly, was yer wheel ok or the tyre damaged??

If they don't answer, get stuck in wi a few bricks at night tae bump up their yard insurance premium.... ye claim insanity!!

mad yin :P

Toyota won't waste money on embellishments unless they are important and those flanks are vulnerable so insist they are replaced.

Cheers

Go fur the jugular - yur a proud owner oa wan o the best vehicles ever tae be produced (aifter ma ain). Dinnae be a fearty - jist get them telt. An dinnae get soft-soaped by the free cup of coffee......been there.....

Ye can be nice but if they are taking ye for a rip, then be persistant. Its your money after all. YOU are the customer and dinnae forget it. Wi-oot trying tae offend Mr Kingo, the so called dealers and fixers professional are beset wi cheats an numpties. There are some that are trustworthy and good. When ye find them stick wi them.

I always make sure that I recognise good work done - altho I'm paying for it - by gieing the guys in the workshop a wee bung (cash/drink) and praise as its due. Cos if they are good, I know I will be back there and I want a wee bit more attention. An a wee bottle o whisky tae the boss never goes amiss.

Think aboot it.

Glad your car is back.

Definately get the protective films fitted! And have a good look at the car and if your not happy, tell the repairers, otherwise it will nag away at you everytime you wash the car or walk past it, whatever.

Noo frankly ahm a liberally minded person, but ye ken ah have high prsbyterian moralls aside oa ma cathoilc beliefs an ma pals frae the Yeyhovy witnesses that visit weekly; and ah jist dinna think this portrayl is of a standard whit matches the standards set by the particpanties o this forum.

Is there anyway the gutterel content o this forum can be cleaned up tae uphold the high stanard oa wur RAVs please???

I'd volunteer but I spend aw ma time praying fur the English tae lose the rugby semi final...........

Hi people,

Thanks for your replies, I'll be making a special trip into the Ringways tomorrow a.m. to ask them about the missing protective film and tell them to get it sorted as like you all havce said it should be fixed as a like for like. Surprised that it didn't come with the wheel arch though as they had to order that. If they give me grief I'll just point out that if they didn't serve a purpose they wouldn't have been there to start with and I don't want one side of my car looking different to the other now do I? :D

@bothwell_buyer - the wheel was fine, I stopped pretty much as soon as the loud scraping noise started. It has left me pondering the nice side chrome bars tho to try and prevent damage to the body should anything happen again. Praying to God it doesn't of course :)
