T180 & Xt5 Owners - Help/info Needed

I raised a topic earlier in the year, shortly after buying my T180 about bluetooth

To recap, my mobile phone (Samsung D600) though working fine with the system in the car, does not display the aerial strength or the Battery level in the little box on the screen. After six months found this can be a pain as you do not know if you have a signal (apart from the obvious lack of dialling!).

My old Sony Ericsson K700 does connect up perfectly. I've spoken to a company that unlock and service mobiles. They say they think it sounds like the car system software appears not to be up to date with newer phones and should be able to be updated. I must admit I've tried a friends bang up to date Samsung U600 and that does the same thing - but it could of course be Samsung phones. I'll ask the dealer when it goes for its first service in a couple of months, but suspect they won't be able to assist.

I am however probably buying a new phone in the near future and wondered what phones other owners have, and whether they work that part on bluetooth (especially if they are newish handsets)as I may then solve the problem by purchasing a compatible phone.

Hi There

I have a Nokia 6210 and it doesn't show a signal strength either. the way that I can tell is like you, if I get a dial tone or not.

Thanks for the input so far - hoping some others will have new phones that work other than the very nice Nokia N95-don't think the Chrissy present budget will run to that on PAYG!!

After trawling the net (sad) may have come up with an answer (though would be interested if Toyota have any different answer)

The link below to Lexus.com seems to tell you various phones and functions that work/don't with bluetooth. Need to work out that not 'exact' phone models as not the uk site BUT the equivalent Samsung to mine says NO to working aerial/battery levels.

http://www.lexus.com/models/GS/accessories/bluetooth.html

Looking also at the link below some Toyota owners with Nokia phones have worse problems!

If it's any help, both my Nokia 6233 and my wife's Nokia 6230i work perfectly. The good news is that both are available on pay as you go!

i have a BMW 535d as well as my T180 and the only phones that i have had full compatibility with are the Sony Ericsson's!

Thank you (and all others who replied) for your input/help.

I have found the same info by trial and error and my new Sony Ericsson phone works everything that should be working! I'll be sticking with that brand in the future.

Is it possible that the same applies to GPRS?

I have a Nokia phone and although it is GPRS enabled I cannot get it to update traffic information on a Tom Tom Go 910.

Any ideas?

I would wager it is ancorman. Have you made a GPRS connection on the phone for browsing or other finctions?

This is a link to GPRS settings for uk providers

http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html

Make sure you select an email/web setting and NOT a Wap one and TomTom will not connect through a Wap connection.

Who is your airtime provider and are you able to configure the settings through the TomTom device? I have used a PDA paired with a Nokia in the past to get TomTom traffic and it worked very well but the bluetooth pairing needs to be a good one.
